As you may have guessed, this is the waste paper basket. If you rummage through the rubbish (I know what you're thinking, but its only paper!) you'll find disguarded copies of the Daily Prophet, old letters and forgotten-about notes.

Dear Mr Dumbledore,
Given Harry his letter. Taking him to buy his things tomorrow. Weather's horrible. Hope you're well.
Hagrid

Dear Harry,
I know you get Friday afternoons off, so would you like to come and have a cup of tea with me around three? I want to hear all about your first week. Send us an answer back with Hedwig.
Hagrid

DO NOT OPEN THE PARCEL AT THE TABLE.
It contains your new Nimbus Two Thousand, but I don't want everybody knowing you've got a broomstick or they'll all want one. Oliver Wood will meet you tonight on the Quidditch Pitch at seven o'clock for your first training session.
Professor M. McGonagall

GRINGOTTS BREAK-IN LATEST

Investigations continue into the break-in at Gringotts on 31 July, widely believed to be the work of dark wizards or witches unknown.
Gringotts' goblins today insisted that nothing had been taken. The vault that was searched had in fact been emptied the same day.
'But we're not telling you what was in there, so keep your noses out if you know what's good for you,' said a Gringotts spokesgoblin this afternoon.

ENQUIRY AT THE MINISTRY OF MAGIC

Arthur Weasley, Head of the Misuse of Muggle Artefacts Office, was today fined fifty Galleons for bewitching a Muggle car.
Mr Lucius Malfoy, a govenor of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where the enchanted car crashed earlier this year, called today for Mr Weasley's resignation.
'Weasley has brought theMinistry into disrepute,' Mr Malfoy told our reporter. 'He is clearly unfit to draw up our laws and his rediculous  Muggle Protection Actshould be scrapped immediately.'
Mr Weasley was unavailable for comment, although his wife told reporters to clear off or she'd set the family ghoul on them.
